The druids he was with were attacked. He escaped, as far as I know - but I never heard from him again. I hope-- [But hope is stupid and she knows how unlikely it is that he survived, so she shakes her head.] That was four, five years ago.

[Yes. And he's going to win]

Have you looked?

[You suck :c] Some. [And another head shake.] I couldn't, for the longest time. He left no trail to follow.

[That must be what Grace felt like, after he left her. Though he can only imagine that his daughter hates him for lying to her and breaking his promises.]

Your magic is stronger than that.

[And a frown flickers across her face as she looks up at him.] It wasn't always.

Four or five years is a long time. [To grow, to keep looking, did you even try recently, you are terrible]

[P much :c] Yes, a long time to learn what I was, and spend years hiding it, a long time to fight to make the kingdom safe for children like Mordred!

And no time to spare to look?

He wouldn't have been safe with me.

Or you could have kept him safe.

[And she's just putting her cup down on the nearest flat surface with a clack.] You have no idea what it was like. I had no way to find him - and I'd rather assume that he escaped Camelot entirely, otherwise - he's probably dead. [And she'strying to keep her voice flat but that. Isn't going so well.]

[Don't be breaking his china. And lol, he gets that. He's not sure if he can face the real Grace again because what if she hates him?]

[They just take out their misery on each other, what a great friendship. She shakes her head.]

How did you lose Grace?

[There is a lot of misery to spare, ngl]

I didn't. I left her.

Why?

We had nothing in that cottage. Her mother was gone. We picked fungus just to be able to eat. And I wanted to give her everything, so when the Queen offered lifelong comfort for one last trip in the hat...

[He shrugs.]

I should've known Regina would betray me. Grace begged me not to go. And she never asked for anything.

You should have listened to her. [She's not without sympathy, but pointing out that it isn't his fault seems stupid, so.] She must miss you.

[He laughs bitterly because he knows. He knows he should have listened to her. His life is a mess of regrets.]

I broke my promise, she probably hates me.

My father left me alone to go to war. I'd give anything to have him back. [Well not anything, but she misses Gorlois and used to wish that she'd just told him about her bad dreams and stopped him from going.]

[No she hates him, don't you hate Gorlois for dying and leaving you with Uther and Arthur?]

It's not the same.

[If he wasn't dead she wouldn't have been left with them so shut up :|]

If you'd rather think she hates you, fine. But I've been a daughter without a father, promises stop mattering.
